Creativity Workshops: rediscovering your creative uniqueness

Can you remember your childhood days when every minute was a wondrous realm of imagination and you were totally absorbed in the depth of each moment?

As adults many of us revisit this ability briefly but we're limited from fully experiencing the wonder of 'what is' by our conditioning, and particularly the 'adult seriousness' that it brings.

Many suspect that the desire to create and play is still within them, and one day, maybe, they will find their way back to the magical place where creativity blooms.

Imagine finding within you a colourful creative garden of spontaneity and intuition . . .

Our creativity events provide simple ways to help you rediscover the original source of your creativity.

History shows that the negation of creativity is damaging both to society as well as to us as individuals.

Suppose you had the ability to return to the original 'heart' of your creative imagination, whenever you wish? How might life be different for you and your loved ones today?

Is it possible to live from a secure place within yourself that permits you to act from your own uniqueness? Can you really live out of your creative essence rather than out of fears, or the everyday concerns, that come from living in a turbulent society?

Using a combination of play, dialogue, light-hearted individual confrontations and group activities, our creativity workshops will help you experience new ways of self expression employing a variety of unique yet simple strategies. You will rediscover the precious core of your creativeness, which has always been there waiting to be re-awakened.

After you have taken part in a Creativity Event your contact with us can, if you wish, continue on a one-to-one basis via our creative coaching program or our life coaching programme and perhaps be published in the physikgarden, where you can share the fruits of your creativity with others.

Creativity Workshops are held in Italy, South Africa and Turkey

Creativity Workshops: turbulence

“Do you remember the touchstones of creativity from your past? An instance that sent shivers down your spine, when you found yourself within the spontaneous and intuitive act of creativity. Your heart raced, maybe there were tears in your eyes, maybe you were just struck with wonder. In that one, or maybe series of moments, you began to tread a path to your own conscious creative self. And for some timeless time, all the creative depth, energy and vision in you was present, pure, untainted by expression. You were in touch, connected; you were for a time transcended and free and……. completely in love with your innermost creative self”

But sometimes something happens to creative people.

Artists of all sorts, actors, painters, sculptors, writers, indeed creative people of every variety; all of us are susceptible to the tired ‘dust’ of experience settling on us, on our work and most importantly of all, on our inspiration. Those magical moments can become fewer, farther apart or even disappear altogether. We ‘normalize’ the exceptional and extraordinary, falling asleep to all the possibilities available in any moment.

This ‘dust’ is comprised of all our habitual ideas and the projections, judgments and values that those around us place upon us and our creative work. In addition, we heap on to this our own expectations of ourselves and the world, our commitments, our social status, even the image of ourselves reflected in the eyes of our children .

Whether we like it or not this dust invades our beings and, unless we are vigilant, we slowly, (sometimes so slowly we don’t realize it ourselves), grind to a halt, a shadow of our former creative selves.
And in that shadow we talk our selves into all sorts of creative compromises and out of our own truth.

We in the PHYSIC GARDEN liken it to falling asleep.

Our extraordinary creative workshop experience, ‘TURBULENCE,’ offers the experience of reawakening. And when you are once again wide awake, you will the begin the journey of reclaiming all those parts of yourself  which need  reinventing and reinvigorating.

We use our own unique combinations of play, dialogue, individual coaching, and group activities in painting, music, writing, dance, theatre games, all designed to deepen your connection with your original creative self and purpose.

But it’s not for the faint hearted. The only person who can reclaim you is you. No one can do this for you. Your ‘TURBULENCE’ facilitators will awaken and challenge you, so that you and the other participants on the course will confront the very essence of their creativity.

After you have taken part in ‘TURBULENCE’ your contact with us can, if you wish, continue on a one-to-one basis via our creative mentoring program and our living art web site www.physikgarden.com, where you can share the fruits of your re –awakened creativity with us and with others.

Creativity Workshops are held in Italy, South Africa and Turkey

Photography workshops: time, light and mind

Light, time and the human mind,
These have been the perennial elements of photography from its very inception.
Our workshop dances once again in this triangular arena and asks..
What is it that so fascinates us about photography; a medium which allows us to explore our past, to play in the present and to experiment and dream of a future?
There is no other medium which rewards us with the thrill of capturing time, of celebrating beauty and even to face often the stark brutality of world events; the power of the still image.
Indeed, it is true to say that the camera has become an extension of the mind.

The workshop is spread over four days.
Day 1.  Light. Through play, open light-hearted dialogue and experiment, the morning will prepare us for an afternoon field trip to a mysterious location to be immersed and to record manifestations of light. The evening to digest and compare and analyse the day’s discoveries.

Day 2. Time. In the morning we immerse ourselves in time; time past, present and future and look at its relevance to the digital age. The afternoon finds us putting our learned new concepts into action in the timeless high mountain plains of Mount Vettore and the mystic Pilate’s Lake. In the evening we run through the day and share experiences.

Day 3. Mind. In the morning, through play and open dialogue, we look at perception, intuition and spontaneity; do we see with our brains or our eyes?  The afternoon finds us prowling through a cityscape with fresh understandings of our mental mechanisms. Evening for dissertation and analysis of day.

Day 4. Free day of landscape photography where we put together all we have learned. The evening for a long look and celebratory dissemination of the week’s photography.

Testimonials:

"Let me see", is what I say when standing at The Gate of Michael Eldridge's intriguing web site: The Physik Garden.

Passionate interest abounds here. Nature, the human spirit, melancholy musing, undulating tales, directions to other spaces of the cyber world are folded here in multi-layered croissant-like form. For the wanderer whose mind is never eclipsed by reality, this place to rest an idle mind is a healthy and refreshing wayside stop on one's monitor.

It is a healing place where one can plant their own seeds of discovery.

It is modelled after the Physic Garden in Oxford, the oldest botanical garden of Britain and propagated originally with seeds from Mt. Etna. This link of England and Italy is melded today in Michael Eldridge and friends mentally comforting web site of multi-layered memories and discoveries. Enter into the garden and you will not want to leave but to participate.

Michael Eldridge is a soft-spoken man of erudition able to translate the complicated to the understandable.

He is a wise necromancer filling the days learning and conversation with tales of life's dance in light. His wit, like light, fills one's mind with delight of learning and one comes away from his teachings feeling that they know.

There is no duress while studying/working with Michael for he parses information into assimilation.

Jack Fulton, artist, photographer, San Francisco

Michael was my photography tutor at Bournemouth & Poole College of Art.

The most important thing I learned from him was to look with my heart.

He’s a great story teller and you never know where the boundary lays between reality and his fantasy...

For a long time I have thought of him as my spiritual guide... now we just live too far away from each other for those long walks and profound talks.

Monica Riccò Panciroli, photographer and artist, Italy

I remember the first time I met Michael, after he had given a lecture on his photographic work in California.

I remember the enchantment of finding someone’s images that talked to me about things I was only just grasping at; colour, form, subject, organisation, harmony, reality, visual poetry.

Michael’s teaching and art has profoundly affected so many people with his ability to play, to upturn, to enthuse, to reinvent and elaborate. He has that magical quality, rarely found in a teacher, the seemingly unconscious and effortless ability to give a student exactly what he or she needs to self empower and to take those first steps in their own voyage of creativity.

Jackie Tune, artist, photographer, Tuscany Italy

Michael Eldridge was my first, and last, photography teacher. He is a Master in the true sense because he can bring out your essential nature, both in your images and in your life. I studied
with him over thirty years ago and never since met his equal.

Every Wednesday I am looking forward to our talks, and the fact that I stopped drinking, producing artworks like clockwork, and enjoying live in general is great. It’s amazing to me that a hour a week have this result, it is a bit overwhelming. The only problem is that I am addicted to water.

I found that it helped me quite magically transform my reality. From being very negative and stuck in destructive ways of thinking, I am now feeling happy and inspired. Anthony is a fun yet sensitive coach. He is able to recognise saboteurs and deal with those negative voices effectively and with humour. Although it was sometimes tough to face my inner turmoil, I enjoyed my sessions with him enormously. ”
